Purpose

Maybe this one's a life-long search. The one that occupies your thoughts at 2am, that you mull over on the commuter bus to the job you don't quite love, that you think must be out there but you haven't yet found. How do you know what it is that you think you were meant to do?

We have some ideas for gentle steps—most of which mean figuring out a little bit more about yourself. The Sparktype assessment from Jonathan Fields is genius and helped us a lot (hello from this Maker/Maven). You can also play a little with ideas (see Creative Mornings and classes (see Creative Live). And check out the places below when purpose seems absent from or illusory in your life.

Just edge closer to it. Whatever it may be for you.

Coming to know ourselves better, remembering where the true sources of excitement and interest lie for us seems an indispensable step in the long path towards that eventual, infinitely tricky goal: the discovery of satisfying work.
— Alain de Botton
