Conversations of Inspiration with Holly Tucker MBE | The art of using business to change lives with Becky Sharaidah founder of Arthouse Unlimited
A truly inspiring conversation between Arthouse Founder Becky Sheraidah and Holly Tucker on why creativity matters, how to bring social inclusion to the high street, and how to make change happen in our world. Through working with a group of artists with neurodiverse and physical support needs, Sheraidah discovered how creativity and purpose can come together.
The Lonely Palette
Hosted by multi-hyphenate art historian Tamar Avishai, The Lonely Palette exists to bring art history to the masses. The concept is simple: unsuspecting museum goers are randomly approached and asked to discuss a piece of art that lays before them. What might feel like a confronting task, actually becomes and interesting conversation on whose voices we value, and why we’ve likely gotten it wrong. After her interviews, Avishai takes listeners on a deep dive, exploring the historical context, social relevance and full history of each piece. As someone who has often believed that experiencing art is for “other people” the Lonely Palette offers a fresh perspective and a low barrier for entry. Episode 0 will set you on your way to your art exploration (from home!)
Song Exploder
If you’ve ever been an angsty teen pouring over the contents of a cd jacket (aging ourselves) or a still-angsty adult googling the meaning behind your favorite song lyrics, this podcast is for you. Featuring a breadth of artist, from indie darlings Dayglow and Tame Impala to pop-culture icons like Brandi Carlile and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Song Exploder follows artists as they detail the creation of some of our favorite songs. While some artists err on the technical side (read: describing recording equipment we don’t fully understand), others take us on the emotional journey that lead them to write in the first place. Our favorite episode featuring Arlo Parks deals with mental health, suicide and the helplessness felt when our friends are falling away from us.
Creative Pep Talk with Andy J Pizza
Featuring host, and all-round fun guy, Andy J Pizza, Creative Pep Talk aims to help creative people thrive, both personally and professionally. In addition to being an incredible (and successful) illustrator, Andy is also open about his struggles with ADHD and other mental health issues. For those of us who can be left feeling bogged down and uninspired by our own mental health woes, this podcast serves as both inspiration and information. More than just understanding that leading a creative life is possible, Creative Pep Talk helps us to shift our perspectives and rediscover our lost motivation. Featuring interviews with everyone from Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Morgan Harper Nichols, the show helps listeners to find common ground with even the most prolific creators of our time, while reinforcing the notion that creativity matters, even when the world feels like it’s falling apart.
